New Abode 11-29

Well, we are in our new apartment in downtown Kharkiv. It is actually a decent place, but we have no phone, no internet access, and our TV (as it has been since we got here) has not one English-speaking channel (argh!!!!!!).

We are currently in a Japanese restaurant about a half-mile from the apartment because it is the only place around that has wireless internet access. They will be seeing a lot of us over the next week!!!!!!

Our facilitator/translator left us today to head back to Kiev to continue to manage the paperwork gorilla involved in these adoptions. We are a little leary about this because Kharkiv has very few people who speak English. We have been spoiled with her around to make sure people understand what we want. However, good beer is about 65 cents and a personal driver is $6 per hour US. This guy drives us around and waits until we are done. We could have him the entire day for under $50!!!!

We have been visiting Valeriy twice a day as usual and are getting to know him pretty well. We look forward to getting him home before 2010!!!! Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Rob needs to get out of here by 12/8 in order to keep his sanity!!!!

Until tomorrow,

Lisa & Rob

Rob, hang in there. When you are home and are busy rolling around the floor with those two munchkins, it will all be behind you.

Lisa, we haven't met - we're Rob's clients - but I work for an international adoption agency and know EXACTLY what you are going through with all the paper work.

Do you think Valeriy will be home by Christmas? That would be wonderful.

Not only are you guys blessed with such a cute little bugger, but he is so blessed to get your family.

Hang in there - my prayers are with you.

Japanese restaurant, wireless internet.. .you guys are living the high life!!! We haven't watched English speaking TV in more than a week now. The only restaurants in Sumy only serve cabbage, beets and pork or chicken. The only drink here is vodka.. And the internet, well, we have to go to the "B.O." capital of the Ukraine.. Sumy's internet cafe! HA, I guess all of this builds character.. right!!!
Everything looks like it is moving right along for y'all. Blake/Valeriy is a little cutie pie. I am so happy this has worked out the way it has. We have to plan our first visit with each other (in the states!!!). Kolya is doing good. Seems to know Maury and I. When he gets around the other kids, he pushes them away and says, "my Mama, my Papa".. We have fallen in love with a little girl named Anina. We just hate that we are not allowed to adopt her. Boy, what a system.

Talk to you soon. Thinking and praying for you (especially you Rob) all!

Maury sends his love!
